Great for creating and exploring routes
Disclaimer: I went ahead and paid for the full package so this is an evaluation of that feature set.
This is an outstanding mapping ap. I use it to create and save routes and purchased it specifically for that feature set.
Unlike traditional mapping aps that will create a route for you but balk when you want to create an alternative, Footpath shines when you want to create and save your own routes. And it works great with my phone.
The tools are easy to use and the range of mapping options is impressive. Select your mode of travel (car, bike or walk) then choose which map you want. Its easy to switch maps and I routinely switch to the USGS topo maps. The draw feature works well and the only time Ive had problems were when I forgot to switch modes like the time I was trying to get a car map but was in bike mode. Footpath wouldnt let me ride my bike on the Interstate. Or when a particular map didnt recognize a tunnel. Trying to chart a ride around Tahoe required switching from the Auto map to the USGS topo map to go through the tunnel.
The elevation feature works very well. Scrub your finger along the elevation chart and a dot on your route shows where that elevation change is on the route with each mile or km marked along the path.
Sending a quick map of a proposed route to a friend is easy and Ive used this feature repeatedly to help plan bike routes for rides with friends.
The full package allows me to save routes and recall them at will.
Im a map geek and this my favorite mapping ap for creating routes hands down.
